Scammers impersonating brands

You may see ads on social media from well-known brands. Before you click, check out their business profile to help determine the legitimacy of the ad. Reviews and ratings are also key to recognizing a scam account.

Fake investment opportunities

Be wary of profiles promising great profits if you invest, or people claiming to be cryptocurrency experts. Even if it is someone on your friends list, it’s likely someone else has accessed the account. Don’t give out any personal information and only invest in trusted sources.

Selling counterfeit merchandise

If you see a deal that seems too good to be true, it probably is. You can spot counterfeit products a few different ways. Look out for low quality images, grammatical errors, and unusually low prices.
